Glaze and Colour Quality We produce high quality, reduction fired stoneware pottery and would draw attention to certain facts concerning colour and finish on goods supplied. Glazes used are custom made at the pottery from raw materials sourced from a variety of suppliers. As such, there may be slight disparities in the results obtained from their use and therefore colours depicted on line are representations only and may be subject to variation. All wares are oven proof, dishwasher proof and food-safe unless otherwise stated. Colour Variations can occur due to the mineral content of glaze materials used, the nature of glazes used, flame exposure in the kiln and atmospheric conditions therein. These are normal and to be expected in high temperature reduction firing. They are not regarded as a flaw in the ware. Runs and Dribbles are a normal feature of the types of glazes used by The Potter of Leith and are to be expected, indeed, relished. Iron spots – A naturally occurring spot of iron may rise to the surface of the glaze during firing, and can appear anywhere.  These are not a flaw. Pinholes – These are very small holes in the fired glaze surface penetrating down to the body below.  It is rare for there to be more than just one or two in any piece.  This does not affect the clay body itself and in no way impairs the function of the piece. Dimensions/Volumes are approximate due to slight variations in the shrinkage percentages in clay bodies used. Volumes are not intended to conform to any industry or legaslitive standards of weights and measures.
