About the artwork:
As one of the three fates in Greek mythology, Clotho spun the thread of life for her sisters to weave and cut. She was the beginning but also the caster of the end, the length and strength of life in her hands, a fragile balance, darkness and light, an enormous responsibility. This modern abstract piece centres around her power, with bold colour blocking and unabashed female form.
Clotho decided the life force of a person, brought it to being, but also of the gods. All fates were deal with within her hands, and she was considered the daughter of necessity. One could also consider her the birth of language – she helped Hermes create the alphabet. A woman of magnificent power and purpose, but was it a burden?
Modern, bold and captivating design, this piece would look stunning on any wall, a strong piece creating a focal point in your room, adding luxury and intensity.
The style is contemporary.

About the artist:
I am a self-taught artist; I first began drawing as a self-therapy and reconciliation of myself after undergoing a double mastectomy three years ago which changed how I see the body and what female sexuality is. I tend to be instinctive when I create, and I work quickly on most pieces – I have never been the most patient of creatives.
I am also a poet and many of my pieces begin in the written word and transform onto paper or canvas. Often these pieces will be accompanied by the original written piece that inspired them.
I use layered and textured acrylic to create a visceral quality to the works and to represent emotion, which I hope makes the eye linger and search out more detail – your eye becoming your fingertips and craving touch. It is always a journey every time I draw or paint a body it makes me hyper-aware of how the outside world categorises women’s body, as a commodity, as an object, and how social media and public platforms dictate what is and is not ‘woman’, but it is also a reconciliation between my gaze on my own changed form and that which I control with ink or paint.
My work has previously been displayed in Parallax AF, Plathoes Cave, WATWA Art Girl Rising and showcased at the MASA-UK Gallery.
