The Arctic

“I'd like to use my art as a means to talk about the important issues we face today and may in the future – a universal language we all can relate to.

While nature is always a source of inspiration to me, I've created this original oil painting with something that happens to be one of the unfortunate climate change symbols in mind – The Arctic.

What do you imagine when you think of the Arctic? Pristine waters, endless white landscapes, permafrost, or perhaps penguins, polar bears? Whatever it is, I bet, this is something we used to think of as distant, hardly relatable, and rather lasting. But it is much closer, more dependable on us, and much more fragile than we think.

While life seemed to slow down for many of us due to the pandemic, global warming hasn't stopped melting the ice caps and challenging our livelihoods.

For some, it goes unnoticed, while others are already suffering from the altered climate and the results of global warming. Having a degree in Environmental Science, I knew how dependant we are on a healthy planet.

As demotivating as it is to accept that climate change is a result of human activity, I believe we are in a position to change the world for the better. If each of us makes even a tiny step towards the right direction, it counts.

This time, I'd like to make my contribution by donating all profits from the sale of this painting to the Woodland Trust. I'm endlessly grateful for the fantastic work this UK's largest woodland conservation charity does in planting, restoring, and protecting our woodlands.

As you know, trees are our humble climate change warriors, tirelessly capturing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releasing oxygen instead. Let's help the planet breathe, and let's save the Arctic together.”
